36°F (2°C) Wind chill 30°F Pushing 3 p.m. and we've got that icky "frizzle" falling!

I say those early Spring warm-ups will always haunt you, Mother Nature has never learned to play nice, she likes her way and doesn't share very well either!

The volcano is about 300 miles away from me. Upriver from Bethel in the Kuskokwim Valley there is a ash fall advisory for that area from Aniak and up. Aniak is 120 miles upriver from here. It does affect the whole state of Alaska though, all flights are based out of Anchorage and Alaska Airlines and other carriers have canceled flights for the day. They're only flying southbound. Fairbanks is doing the same. They're canceling most of their flights. Ash and any type of engine doesn't mix. All of the region out here depends on flights from Anchorage for mail, freight, and groceries. There are no roads out to this part of Alaska.
