Look at Dallas with almost three ice days in a row and a forecast low of 16f. Is this city really considered "subtropical", lol? I mean that is incredible cold for a supposed subtropical climate in the very earliest part of winter. We are barely out of Autumn and a low in the mid teens F with ice days already?

SkyTracker Weather
SASKATOON –A wind chill warning has ended for Saskatoon and the surrounding area.
Environment Canada issued an extreme wind chill warning Thursday morning after clear skies and moderate winds combined to produce wind chills around the minus 40 mark.
The wind chill in Saskatoon at 7:00 a.m. was minus 42.
Wind chills are expected to moderate later in the morning as temperatures slowly climb.
At extreme wind chill values, frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes.

Over the next few days, temperatures are expected to remain well below normal for this time of year.
The cold weather force the cancellation of some special needs buses in the Prairie Spirit School Division:

When I look at the graphic and see those temps....I realize what wimps we are on both coasts - lol. We grone like it's the North Pole when we see temps below 25 F....you guys laugh at -25 F.

I have no problem saying your way tougher than we are

FINALLY. Some snow in the forecast (5-7") for us in the distant future. We should trade our weather with Dallas. That forecast rocks for winter and should be the weather in New Jersey area every single day non stop from December to March.

Additionally, Philadelphia should be battered with -5 F highs some time this year for a week straight YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is quite the cold forecast for Dallas, hopefully some of that cold can make it's way east.

If you look at the forecast for Harrison, AR you would think you were looking at the forecast for a place like MN with high in the 20s lows in the single digits/teens.

Why thank you Wavehunter!

Since we often face the -40's F with -50 to -60's (windchill) it kinda puts it all in perspective.

And yes we do proudly say we are Saskatchewan Tough (and we know exactly what that means)!

I wouldn't base an area's climate off of a random weather event. Landfalling tropical cyclones don't make our climate tropical, although I wish it did lol.

Yeah but the classification is based on temperatures and not events.

Average temperatures, not current or forecasted temperatures.

More impressive is it was 57°F two days ago there. Forecast high is 9°F, was 7°F yesterday; so 50°F difference in high temperatures in one day! Variability we can't get here, beside continentality, I think elevation plays a role.

Dallas forecast high of 38°F today, 80°F yesterday! So maybe not elevation.
