Look at the upper right hand corner of the temperature map that I posted. Minimum forecast for Thursday December 5th is to be -53.1F, and the coldest color shading is in the Northwest section of Wyoming (around Yellowstone). Don't know if it will actually get that cold, but still. What a forecast!

The 132hr 00z run for Friday December 6th has -52.7F.

Still extremely cold on Saturday

Though -33F would be cold enough for my tastes

A 990mb low in both Minnesota and Nevada

A nice 1039mb high pressure over the Midwest next Sunday

Forecast for Edmonton as it stands right now calls for -27C by Friday morning. Certainly cold but not historically so by Edmonton standards.

It's warmer right now on Long Island than in Mobile Alabama. Look at the winds to figure out why

Yikes. Doesn't take much folks. No need for a "storm" to happen to create dangerous situations like this morning.

I-290 closed in Worcester, MA. Multiple crashes. Cleanup underway.

I think even folks who like the summer better would appreciate and find this new Arctic invasion coming up interesting.

Temps Without winds for Thursday .

And for today... Some snow for Maine

==discussion== a winter storm will intensify over alberta today and track southeastwards into southern saskatchewan on monday. Milder air on the eastern side of this system may lead to freezing rain over many portions of the province tonight generally along and south of the trans canada highway corridor. Colder air on the back side of this system will change the precipitation back to all snow monday morning. Snowfall will increase in intensity through the day with 10 to 15 cm possible with the highest amounts again along and south of the trans canada highway corridor and over the higher terrain of the cypress hills. North to northeast winds will increase in the afternoon gusting to 60 km/h. The combination of the falling snow and strong winds will lead to reduced visibilities in blowing snow over open areas monday afternoon into late tuesday morning. Conditions should gradually improve from north to south tuesday afternoon as this system tracks into the dakotas. Frigid arctic air will sweep in across the province by mid week in behind this system with daytime highs only in the minus 20 range. Warnings for this potentially significant storm may be issued later today. The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended. Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from environment canada at Weather Home - Environment Canada end
