We've been getting some cold night temperatures. Low of -10F in Chicopee (not far from me) last night. Just good conditions for radiational cooling. Didn't feel too cold while outside in the evening, when I got out of my car later at 11 pm it felt much colder started shivering instantly because I hadn't zipped up my coat all the way. Thermometer read 6F at 11pm.
Forecast low of -3F tonight. High of 29F and sunny today. Yesterday was 29F as well.
Any Break in the Cold?

Here is my latest interpretation of the weekly ECMWF long range forecast model.....
Despite the lack of red color across Canada, it does look like there will be a brief warm-up across the Prairies starting around the 16th. However, I believe it will be short-lived as there are signs of more cold late in the month and into early March, but of course not to the extreme of what we have seen so far this winter.
The model also seems to be taking into account the cold, frozen Great Lakes region and hesitates to bring any milder air into that region.
After a couple of weeks of stormier weather it looks like a drier regime will return in March over BC.
This winter in the Toronto area looks and feels almost exactly like an Ottawa or Montreal winter.
Even the snow amount, snow is really starting to pile up, up to 6 ft at the end of my driveway,
and there's more on the way tomorrow Seems like spring is very far away.
ChiGeorge right on, good news for California's drought......
' Active Weather In The Western United States This Weekend
A series of storms will impact portions of the Western U.S through this weekend. These storms will bring much needed precipitation to the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountains and parts of California. Northern California will be especially hard hit; with several inches of rainfall expected for the lower elevations and two to three feet of snow for portions of the Sierra Nevada'
They're saying it's the heaviest snow in Tokyo since 1998 or something like that. It's past midnight and still snowing there. The article says 8 inches expected.
