I hope we get a winter like 1947 - the only winter where my grandmother's memories of snow so deep it blocks the door were true and not made up!

Good catch. Yeah 1959-60 the south had more snow than me. In fact Richmond Virginia almost got 3 feet that winter and 20 inches came in March.

Philly got a foot of snow March 1960. D.C got 17 inches. Bridgeport,CT got 9".

And judging by the looks of this, March upper air pattern was too supressed for me but benefited the south. Look at this crazy map!

It was kind of more spread out here. A 6 inch storm hit in January with a 4 inch storm in February and March. And there were a few more minor events along with those.

Uggh, I despise the heat and humidity. Give me an early winter of COLD but sunny days here in the mid-Atlantic U.S. so I can open the windows and sleep like a baby .

Would be ideal to make up for the rubbish weather in general in recent years.
A wet winter is rubbish. A cold winter is usually sunny and crisp.
And it is not nice to have 17c or whatever with the winter sun angle. It does not feel good.

No, I want a 1700 style winter. I want to experience a true winter with three months of subzero highs.
