Strong big Upper Level Low in the south. Pushing high dew points up into Eastern U.S.
That Upper Low could of been carrying extremely dry air and provided a southern snowstorm but the Upper Low pretty much came from the Pacific, not Canada.
70s dew points in January, that is just plain sick. 50s is extreme up here, never been higher in January.
Look at the departures. Pretty much 20-30 above normal dewpoints this afternoon in the East
52° in Hartford is 32 above normal.
56° Atlantic City is 29 above normal.
So basically normal dews is in the 20s yet there's widespread 50s out there.
We had a dew of 55 earlier today and 53 yesterday. That map shows the average to be 22 (46 and 34 above average equals 22 average) so that's 33 above average.
