In the deep south US it seems common for the dewpoint to rise to the temperature at night.

Strong big Upper Level Low in the south. Pushing high dew points up into Eastern U.S.

That Upper Low could of been carrying extremely dry air and provided a southern snowstorm but the Upper Low pretty much came from the Pacific, not Canada.

70s dew points in January, that is just plain sick. 50s is extreme up here, never been higher in January.

Look at the departures. Pretty much 20-30 above normal dewpoints this afternoon in the East

5 Maps for you guys..

Large High Pressure centered over Kentucky this morning drying things out. Cold front over central Florida.

6amEST Dews.

Southeast

Country dews. I'm used to seeing those blacks and red colors over the Desert southwest in Summer. Nice to see them in the East.

Current dew point departures. 23 below normal in Atlanta. WOW. Pretty much 10-20 below normal Gulf coast to Northeast. Poor Florida.

Million dollar question... Will this be the last time we see single digits South of Latitude 40N?? I think next week we have a chance again.

This afternoons dewpoints and departures.

A reminder it's February 24th.

52° in Hartford is 32 above normal.
56° Atlantic City is 29 above normal.

So basically normal dews is in the 20s yet there's widespread 50s out there.

We had a dew of 55 earlier today and 53 yesterday. That map shows the average to be 22 (46 and 34 above average equals 22 average) so that's 33 above average.

Weird to see dews in the 50s 30+ degrees above normal.

The dew point is currently -3.5°C (26°F) at Orly airport.
