I wish Honolulu had a monsoon season like the Caribbean and parts of the USA do. It'd be fun to see the thunderstorms. They're so rare, but hey, at least Hawaii still gets the warm tropical rains.

Honolulu.

Better temperatures and no sub zero record lows.

Both summers are atrocious, but there's a better chance of pleasant weather in winter in Brownsville, as well as a better chance of seeing snow. I choose Brownsville.

I lived honolulu from 2003-2007 and visited my and stayed with relatives in the rio grande valley for a couple of months. I would have say that Honolulu's weather is more tropical than the RGV. The weather in Hawaii is great no complaints there.. But i left Hawaii because it wasn't for me culturally, it was small island ,its overpriced, and none of my family members live there ( i was basically alone there) ... so overall for me i would choose the RGV over Hawaii.

Honolulu isn't horribly dry. You guys are all forgetting that the rain on these charts is measured at the airport, where it rains much less. A big portion of Honolulu lies by the hills, where it is lush and green and rains a lot more. The rain is measured near the tourist areas, Waikiki is near Honolulu International. Go to the neighborhoods of Manoa, Tantalus, Nu'uanu or any other that is a bit far from the coast and you'll see a big diference. Anyway, I'd chose Honolulu in a heartbeat. It is a true tropical climate as opposed to Brownsville, TX. I can grow any kind of plant I want and I'll never have to worry about freezes.
