Speaking of ocean currents and longer term anomalies affecting the temperature across the U.S., how would a negative PDO look for the U.S. as well, considering that we're in a negative ENSO state and PDO state?

Not the whole week though. By the end of the week, the pattern is going to get colder.

Snow is in the forecast for large portions of West Texas Sun. and Mon. Other parts of the state, including just west and north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and parts of Central Texas, could see sleet and/or freezing rain.

After this past summer, I have zero complaints. The people traveling in the ice might be a little nervous, though.

Wow, that's an interesting forecast for Texas. Quite chilly for this time of year.

Yes, I saw that. It looks like a pretty strong cold front will roll through the southern Plains on Mon/Tue. NWS is forecasting Tuesday (December 6th) to be the coldest day in much of Texas…places near the Gulf are forecast to have highs only in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s on Tuesday:

However, the cold air will be quite fleeting (about 48 hrs). By the Thur/Fri and into the weekend highs temps will be back into the 60’s to lower 70’s in most areas along the Gulf Coast. It’s not really surprising - it fits the overall thinking from NOAA that the trough that was centered off the West Coast this fall will move east and settle in the lower Plains. Meanwhile that Southeast Ridge (Bermuda High) is still really strong. This mean that little cold air will get much further east that 90 longitude (Mississippi River)…and the West will see below normal temps. Here in the 30 day temp forecast:

The upcoming pattern is going to get a lot colder, thanks to a -EPO. Midmonth on is still up in the air.

Denver's been below average since the calendar changed. But normally Denver will have one good week regardless, and I'm hoping for a week 3 mild week, so end of the month is cold and snowy

Models have backed off on the extent of the cold moving east again in the medium range per the GFS model.
