Hey all,

Here are two subarctic climates both at 62N which are very different from each other. Which would you prefer and why?

I think it goes without saying for those who know my preferences, I'd go with Tórshavn with its incredibly mild winters for the latitude.

I accidentally voted for Torshavn! A very unpleasant pair of options, but I pick Yellowknife despite the brutal winter temperatures. Torshavn's sunshine is abysmal, while the other town at least has plenty of summer sun.

Yellowknife, despite its brutal winters. Torshavn looks way too mild and dull.

Going to have to say Torshavn if I had to choose. Neither climate is desirable at all to me, but I'm not willing to put up with Yellowknife's winters, even to gain a real summer. Though that means being outdoors in Torshavn's "summers" won't be that much fun.

Tough choice, but I chose Torshavn for cloudiness and precipitation. I wouldn't mind Yellowknife, but is a little too dry and cold for me. Torshavn as a whole would be more liveable.

Torshavn. At least being outside wouldn't be life threatening.

I choose Yellowknife. Torshavn has a boring looking climate which doesn't get cold enough in the winter nor warm enough in the summer. Kind of like fall and spring all year long with no winter or summer. Yellowknife actually has seasons! Also Torshavn has much too high rainfall totals.

Interesting battle

As much as I hate winter, I'd pick Yellowknife due to much higher sunshine. Torshavn's 800 hours per year would drive me absolutely crazy, as well as the anemic "summer" At least Yellowknife has a pleasant mild, sunny season.

884 sun hours means it's less than Kinlochewe's 894 I'm sure I checked Torshavn as a possible rival and it was more! If that is correct (and I'm dubious about the sun average of 0 for December) then it's the dullest currently permanently inhabited place on Earth.

Tough call for me as to which one I'd prefer really, the foggy, drizzly summers on Faroe would drive me absolutely crazy, but so would a March average of -17C in Yellowknife. I suppose I might just go for Yellowknife for the summer sunshine.

I would have to settle for Torshavn, even if it looks plain miserable, I'd rather that than freeze to death within minutes.
