With the help of a Deep South winter storm that moved up the East Coast of the United States over the last few days, over 70 percent of the country is now covered in snow with parts 49 out of 50 states reporting snow cover.

I think they had more snow cover in parts of the southwest and southeast a few days back, but I know from looking at the highs over the last few days it got to the 50’s in many areas of the southwest and into the 60’s in parts of the southeast. Las Vegas had snow cover but it lasted for less than 2 days. Outside of the northern tier of the USA…most of the snow cover in places like New Mexico, California, and Azorrnia is confined to tiny areas in the Mts. On the East Coast there is no snow on the ground south of Maryland at the moment outside of the Appalachian Highlands.
Here is a current snow cover map from the Weather Channel as of today. It looks more like 40 or 50% of the USA might have snow cover. In fact, outside of the Mt tops in AZ, CA, NC...there is no snow cover anywhere south of 35 latitude in the United States:
