Month synopsis:
Certainly a very interesting month, some very mild temps in the first week (for Buxton in November), but also extremely wet in the first half with three days having over an inch of rain each. Most notable was the incredible cold and snow in the final week, some record breaking low temperatures, and over half a foot of snow accumulated by the end of the final day.
-9.4°C on 28th is a record low temperature for the date.
The mean temperature contrast between the 1st week (8.1°C) and last week (-2.5°C) is quite astonishing for the maritime climate.
Wow, 3.3 for November in England What do you normally get? I bet even at 300m or whatever you didn't get that for a lot of Jans/Febs recently. I'm not expecting the whole winter to carry on like this (bloody hope not in any case) but I'm still in a state of shock that this is even still possible after year on year of mild weather up till that crazy warm April in 2007.

The La Nina pattern marches on - collectively the three Spring months (Sep, Oct and Nov) have been cloudier, wetter and cooler than normal.
Had a glorious sunny spell in the latter part of the month, but around that it has been pretty grey and drab.
The only good news is the La Nina pattern has "weakened" slightly:
That site is right on the coast, where the sea surface temp would be about 12 C, so it would have a significant moderating effect.
Actually with 8.8 hrs/day (264 hrs) the horizon profile says 423 recordable hours, so that's about 62.5% of possible. Highest on record was 272 in 2003. Highest ever month in % terms would be March 1945, with about 72%.
Pretty close to average:
