It's been getting dark between 9:30 and 10:00, but as I showed in that other picture a little light can still linger all the way to 10:30, but it's usually darker than in that picture. During the shortest days in winter, it can be mostly dark at 4-4:30. On really cloudy days it can look almost dark even earlier than that. That didn't really surprise me much, since in TN it will usually be dark around 4:30-5:00. But the sun rises quite a bit later than in the Southeast. This is a picture I took when I first visited Seattle. It was in early November and very dark outside, despite being nearly 7:45am (note the clock on the wall):

I'm guessing at its darkest, the sun rises 45 minutes to an hour later than what I was used to.

This was at 10:30pm. That last bit of light really lingers here.

I had to use two pictures to make this one. One exposed for the moon and one exposed for everything else. But it really did look like this in person.
Your photos make me wish I visited Bellingham.

Thumbs up Thanks again for a another wonderful time Washington.

Thank again for another wonderful trip. Last time I was mostly in seattle. But this time I took some short day hikes and auto tours in both Rainier National Park and Olympic National park. I know I only scratch the surfaced of those parks....but for the short time I had alloted for being in the state...I can say that I was very impressed and can't wait to come back and explore these parks more.
Also I got about 1/2 day at the Pacific ocean and throughly enjoy that as well.

Thank You so much again Washington.

I don't blame you for missing Bellingham. Heck, I lived in Tacoma/Seattle for four years before I visited Bellingham for the first time and was blown away by its beauty. Even by Northwest standards, it's pretty amazing. I had no idea until I made that trip up there just how amazing it was. I remember making the drive between Mount Vernon and Bellingham on I-5 and just staring open-mouthed at the beauty (while keeping my eye on the road of course!), and it only got better once I reached the city. Not sure why it took me so long to visit Bellingham, but I think I just did not realize what it truly was like there until I saw it for myself.

Around the solstice it stays fairly light out until about 10pm. Twilight lasts quite a while, and sunset is post 9pm for a few weeks at the solstice.
