Even a few miles inland from the coast would be ok. I also think as you get further down south away from the larger cities it's easier to do that sort of thing. Forget about places like Cannon Beach. But then who wants those crowds anyway? We're staying in Bandon and Florence this time right hear the water.

Bandon and Florence are great locations. We've camped at Honeyman State Park near Florence and it's a gorgeous area. Have a good trip.

I love the Oregon coast & it used to be easy to take a spontaneous trip. But the last time we tried that, it was in September, well past Labor Day, but we ended up staying in Corvallis! It's a nice place, but not the beach! It probably did not help that Portland was having a heat wave & we travel with dogs. BTW, I love the state park at Bandon beach. The yurts are nice to stay in.

It's a sweltering 78 degrees this afternoon but "natural air conditioning" (breeze off the Sound and shade trees) are keeping it cool and pleasant.

The eaglet is getting big! Love the photos, especially how the parents look like they are gazing into each other's eyes. Thanks for posting and Happy 4th.

By next week, he’ll probably start hovering and branching up to the upper branches :-) that’s always a fun milestone :-)

Nice summer weather - up into the low 80s but it takes all day to get there. It's cool in the shade. Tomorrow it's headed back into the 70s.

It sounds like you are roughly 20 degrees cooler there than Vancouver. This is the time of year when northern Puget Sound is in its prime.

64 degrees this morning, sunny. It's supposed to top out in the 70s every day for the next week. Best weather you could ask for.

We're in the 80s for the rest of the week which is much more enjoyable summer weather than the triple digits we had early this week.
