Today was a scorcher in the Vancouver reaching 95. While there is no smoke in the air here, we can see haze to the east due a fire up the Columbia Gorge near Hood River. Temps are supposed to drop back into the 80s soon which I much prefer over 90s.

That said, if I had to pick between our extremes of shorter colder, wet winter days in the 30s over longer, sunnier days in the 90s, I would pick the later. The mornings are still pleasant for outdoor activities and having A/C really helps to cool down. Whereas when we lived on the coast in Monterey CA, A/C was not needed. You must have it in Vancouver now due to the heat and then fire smoke later in the summer. Just checked and Monterey is in the low 60s all this week - mid July! Some years winter is warmer than summer due to summer fog. haha

It’s been hot lately, as hot if not hotter than I’ve seen it in 5 years.
It was 75 degrees at 8:30 am on my way to PA and I saw 85 late into the day.
I had my fan on all night long.

We also have smoke.
Maybe the smoke is making the heat more miserable idunno.
3 days ago it was a high smoke that you couldn’t smell but made the surrounding mountains look hazy and colorless.
The last couple days the smoke got lower to ground level in some areas.
I can’t really smell it probably due to the slight increases but I can feel it and it can’t be good.
My wife looked it up and said they are blaming our smoke on the Sheldon area.
Tomorrow she will be hosting her California girls posse so she is very concerned.

That's strange since the Air Quality map looks better in your area today whereas Seattle is worse. Our air down south is better as well. It's going to be touch and go the rest of summer into fall now as hot spots and new fires emerge. Meanwhile, California is pretty clear so far. But they will also have fire and smoke issues as the summer progresses.

Yeah that map isn’t showing us as bad at all.
It’s not choking bad but it’s not all roses either.
I wonder how often it updates?

We don’t have TV (other than streaming) so we aren’t as current as we could be.
This morning folks at the dog park said the high smoke a few days ago was from Canada and this low smoke was from a fire 5 miles west of Sheldon.

It's not that hot here. Maybe a little warm but a nice summer day besides the smoke. AQ in the yellow zone, and seems to be improving.

We're back to pleasant temps in the upper 70s/low 80s and the AQ is green (good). So far, this summer hasn't been too bad in Vancouver yet. Only time will what happens toward the end. But I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Loving the cooler temps. The 4th was fine being out on Lake Washington, but the last two days were kinda brutal until like 10 PM.
