I've been to Langley before as a close family friend runs a successful chiropractic clinic there. It was a cute, quiet town, similar to the one where I grew up in the Midwest.

My fiancé and I are both chiropractic physicians and are considering an opportunity to live and practice in Langley, I suppose my primary concern is that I focus my current practice on families with children, and sports injuries as my education is specialized in pregnancy and pediatric care as well as sports medicine.

From what I've gathered the population in the south end of the island is heavily weighted toward an older population, which I'm happy to care for of course, but I'd also like to continue my work with other populations. According to my research there are about 1500 children in local public schools - so families must live on the island, but the population of Langley is only just over 1000 but I'm unsure how large of a population lives outside the town limits

My other concern besides practice is that we are both relatively young, and I'm unsure how many people there may be in the 25-35 age range where we might make friends?

Unsure if anyone might Have some insight or advice for us who love or have lived on the island but all is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there! I grew up on the island and returned when my husband and I were ready to buy a house. We live in Langley (well, we have a Langley address--we don't live in town). To address your questions, yes, there is a sizable older population here. There are definitely younger people too, though. Making friends can be difficult. A lot of the people here are just not open to really developing new friendships. People are perfectly nice, but lots of people move here and never stop feeling like outsiders.

Have you considered Vashon or Bainbridge? Vashon has an alternative vibe and Bainbridge is very large family oriented with lots of kids. Not sure what the market is for chiropractors, but you might want to look into those alternatives.
