Consider other options (more convenient locations).... Definitely be prepared to engage in Running Start (need to test 1 yr early). Keep your home <20 minutes to a College. (There are plenty in WA)

Some High Schools have culinary offerings at regional Vocational Skills Centers.
try these (I can't get them to come up) my 'dial-up' is very unhappy tonight

Special Services Secondary Programs for Central Kitsap School District
Automotive Technology / Welcome to Automotive Technology

Ours is great (Vancouver, WA)
Home

plenty of services and schools (Portland and Vancouver are neighbors)

I would avoid Shelton, not a great location for growing kids or getting medical services.

Look to Bellingham, they have vocational and Community College + and excellent University (and likely good job for your DH). I assume he is a ship mechanic?

BTW: 15 yrs caring for my my Dad in Port Orchard. I really liked the area, but like Vancouver better (closer to City / Airport)

Default West Sound Technical Skills Center

Great idea, Stealth! (Why didn't I think of that?)

West Sound Technical Skills Center is the one that serves South Kitsap School District (Port Orchard).

West Sound Technical Skills Center / Homepage

Click the Programs link to navigate to information regarding their Culinary Arts Program.

It is run by Bremerton School District, but South Kitsap School District students have transportation provided. However, I don't know the specifics of what transportation can be provided for your child by SKSD; my son attends West Sound from another school district and he meets his bus at his high school.

Am given to understand that SKSD students attend every other day for a full day due to block scheduling, but once again, those may need to be details worked out with the school district.

Thanks all! I haven't checked out Bellingham, but definitely will. But thanks for thinking of it.
