There are a lot of deer just about any place you go on the Peninsula. PT has a deer problem on the bluff above town, they seem to like people roses the best.
Highway 20 is another area to watch for deer and both Sequim and PA have deer in the city limits. I have seen deer walking in front of our house numerous times.
Taylor Cut off which is on the west side of the Dungarees River is a hot bed for deer getting hit. I think people who live in the Diamond Point area have been warned about feeding the deer. People can see deer here almost any time.... mostly unsuspectingly.

Some commented that drive is challenging - windy and narrow, but I thought it was fine, except pay attention to crossing deer - got closest I've been.
In this case, the destination is better than the journey: Neah Bay and the Makah reservation.
Thanks Bloom! Prolly a bit too long of a drive for my dad and our time frame but will definitely put it on my "must do" list.

Thanks all for the deer warnings. I live in Wisconsin and we hit deer for breakfast.

Seriously, I've had my fair share of hits and near misses with White Tails so I am always on the lookout. Gotta add Roosevelt Elk now to my "watch out" list. An elk hit must be nasty.

Yes and deer are a problem, minor but still a problem, here as well, in certain rural area and back roads especially. When you see one you can almost guarantee there are more to follow and that is the time to slow down until they pass.

Actually it is rare to see the Elk on the road but it does happen. I remember a couple years back that a state trooper hit an Elk and totally wiped out this car.
But its a very rare occurrence. On the East side of Sequim there are flashing lights when the Elk get within a half mile of the highway...some of the Elk have a collar on them to activate the flashing warning lights. I have seen Elk in Carrie Blake Park near the soccer fields on the east side of Sequim on the Olympic trail.
There about 40 in the herd but I read recently they plan to cull the herd to about 25 this year. I wish the state would just leave them alone.

They are beautiful animals.

Since our land is in Happy Valley maybe I will end up with some elk on my iPhone.

I don't know about your iPhone but I will guarantee you you will get Elk on your property eating whatever they want. Happy Valley is and has been their stomping ground for like...well forever.

One more reason for minimal landscaping with a focus instead on the natural beauty of our evergreen treed surroundings. Just as long as they don't eat my dogs.

Where we have seen elk in the road and crossing it is highway 410 from Greenwater to Crystal Mountain. As you enter Sequm that blinking yellow light tells you if the heard is nearby so you can slow down, but I have been going u there 3-6 times a year for 12 years and only once saw one on the highway, that was at dusk. The most deer are in the Diamond Point area. All over the yards.
