Hello! We will be moving to Lacey with our toddlers early next year. Are there any neighborhoods that would be good for families with young children? Any areas to avoid? We are renting, and we will probably move on before our children are in the public schools. Ideally we would like to find a 4BR home with a fenced in back yard for under $2500/month. Proximity to a good preschool would also be a plus. We would like to stay in Lacey if possible, because that's where we will be working and we'd like to avoid a huge commute. Thank you in advance for your advice/ideas!

You'll have no problem renting a home under $2,500. Rents for nice 4BR single family homes in Lacey range between $1,350 and $1,850. There are a good number of nice neighborhoods in Lacey. One of my favorites is the Hawks Prairie area in Meridian Campus. It's a well maintained community, connected with bike paths and sidewalks. There are plenty of play grounds and parks, as well as Tolmie State Park with beach access.

$2500/mo alone is enough to ensure that you won't end up in a place to avoid.

I agree with David. You could get something really nice for even $1,800 that would ensure you are in a good area.

What area of Lacey are you working in?
