I'm just wondering about jobs in the forks area. Making a big move from Tx. Im optimistic that life there will be better than this hot sunny state.

There is a whole thread on Forks in the Washington forums. Tons of people who saw Twilight and then wanted to move there. In a nutshell, those who are intimately familiar with Forks have said that the area is very depressed, there is high amount of drug use and that nearly all of the films were filmed somewhere else.
I think you would be trading a hot, sunny state for a wet, cloudy state. I would research other areas.

I can't imagine that anyone who has ever visited Forks would ever want to move there.
With 212 days of rain and 107" total annually it's 3 times as wet as Seattle. The main employer is the prison, and crime was already bad before the recent wars between illegals harvesting salal for the floral industry.

Yeah, I agree with others here, why Forks?

The job situation is dismal. Unemployment is quite a bit above the state average, recent job growth was in the negative, and the projected future job growth is substantially below average.

With the decline of the timber industry there, it's a somewhat depressed little town that's isolated and as other have said, extremely wet and cloudy.

Are there specific reasons you are considering Forks other than not wanting to be in a hot and sunny climate? There are many other locations in Washington state that will probably be easier to find a job and will be almost as cold, rainy, and gray. Much of western Washington fits that description ...cold, rainy, and gray.

I've never seen these movies but the must have done an amazing job misrepresenting Forks to make it sound attractive.

I wonder if the web had been popular back in 1990 if people all over the country would have been looking to relocate to Twin Peaks, WA?

The funny thing is, Twin Peaks was filmed here. Twilight was not filmed here yet people would uproot their families and move to a dismal financially stressed lumber town based on a movie filmed in Oregon. Filming locations - Twilight Saga Wiki

Forks. If your movie views are your understanding of this area, then you will surely be disappointed. I don't think anything else needs to be said, unless you enjoy fog and clouds and cool temps most of the year, and atleast an hour and a half to any civilization, and even that may not meet your needs. Seriously re-think this.

As a Washingtonian who lived in San Antonio for 8 years I will say don't move there, you probably will be disappointed. It would probably seem dreary and boring to you.

I think Twin Peaks was filmed in North Bend which is a nice area. Forks on the otherhand....
