Thank you to everyone who answered questions about my trip.

I had several interviews while I was there but nothing panned out (same old stuff about being a student and not "doing anything" for 7 years) but we loved it.

Started in Olympia then went to Seattle and finished with Bellingham. I extended the trip by 3 days so we could fit more in. My son loved the ferry rides, Bainbridge, Olympia, and Seattle.

Since nothing panned out we are back in Salt Lake until I get more money or an offer. Still looking though.

I miss the clean water, clean cities, and the weather. Makes being home more depressing.

I thought so, but I had passed through Washington by bus once about 20 years ago....lol

We really loved it though. Child didn't want to leave, but I couldn't make that jump without a job after seeing some rents around the area. His favorite areas are (in order):
1. Bainbridge (he loves the bakery just up from the ferry)
2. Seattle
3. Olympia
4. Bellingham
5. Anywhere else in Washington (except eastern I think...he hated riding through Idaho...lol)

Glad you checked it out... all areas I could be at home.

Just got back to Oakland from 2 weeks working in Olympia... already miss it.

Ah, I went through the thin, northern part of Idaho on my way to WA, and it was lovely. Never been in the southern portion, though.

Glad to hear about your trip! How long were you there? Several interviews I mean that is something.. more than you'd have gotten in other cities right now.

I know how it is being depressed to be back at home. I went last month and ever since I got back all I think about is being there, 24/7.

We were there Monday to Sunday. I've gone almost 14 months where I am now without a real interview. Crossing my fingers I don't have to go to plan B but not looking too good right now.

The southern Interstate routes (I-84, and I-86), were built in the lowest elevation areas of Idaho. Thus, the scenery is almost non-existent. Once you cross into Idaho from Utah be prepared for mostly uneventful scenery all the way to the Oregon border. (BTW, Eastern Washington is similar, some could swear they are driving through Nebraska on I-90 in Eastern Washington!)

I’m just curious. Why would you prefer relocating to Seattle? I have never been to Salt Lake City but, from what I heard, the many sunny days a year with four seasons, the variety of world-class outdoor activities just around the town, and the affordable housing are all major things that would please anyone it seems, especially my family, and you would not get that in Seattle…. Not quite like SLC.

We have a better variety of world class outdoor activities around the town than SLC-- and better cultural offerings. Not everyone wants to own a home and not everyone needs the sun (and we do have 4 seasons, it's not the traditional 4 season that most people are accustomed to... but we got "mild" down good). Seattle also has a much more educated, open-minded/accepting populace, and isn't dominated a major religion. And for that, you're right... Seattle's not quite like SLC. Majority of people would say: "Thank god/goodness for that!"
