My wife and I will arrive in NIH to start postdoctoral training on May 9 and we are looking for a apartment to move in after arrival. Can anyone provide some rental information or advice?

- We are looking to be able to use public transportation, Metro would be good, Bus is also OK. We are willing to travel by walk to get to Metro or other public transfer site.
- Living nearby Chinese grocery will be convenient for us, so Rockville is a good choice.
- studio or 1-bedroom apartment is good, and 2-br/2-ba apartment is also OK.
- We can also consider to share rooms in a house, even in a 2-br apartment, but we need access the kitchen to cook Chinese food every day.

Our budget is 1000-1300/m for separate apartment and 500-800/m for shared rooms.

I don't have a place to rent but the NIH housing website is at

NIH Housing Site

It seems to me you'll want to stay...somewhere
between Wintergreen Plaza (which has a Oriental Market
a chinese grocery and the largest chinese book
store in Maryland) and the the intersection of Hungerford
Drive and North Washington Street(Rockville's Chinatown).

If you don't have a car you should consider living at the
Rockville Town Center - which is a newly developed
mix town center (mixed commerical and residential area).
There is a Rockville Metro Rail station nearby that could
get you to Medical Center-NIH MetroRail station when
you needed to go to work but it also acts as a hub
for most of the buses that circulate around Rockville
as well. Rockville Library (the regional main library)
is in walking distance. The two best chinese grocery
stores in Maryland are at the intersection of North
Washington Street and 355/Hungerford Drive:
Kam Sam (more Taiwanese like) and Maxims(more
Hong Kong like) - about 1 km north of 355/Hungerford
from the Rockville Town Center.
