Our couple are seeking a place to stay in D.C. and we hate the studio/efficiency in rental apartments. We prefer an efficiency or basement in house or townhouse with private bathroom and access to kitchen and in-house laundry equipment. Our favorite place is within the rectangle area between M St and Q St and 18 St to 24 St where ZIP is 20037.

We are all student and the budget is less than 1200/m.

I appreciate if everyone would provide some information.

$1200 (or less!) is nowhere near enough for that neighborhood, and most of the properties in that area are not rentals, they are privately owned homes so the number of available apartments is limited.

You might want to visit a website like http://www.craigslist.org or http://www.apartmentshowcase.com to get a better idea of a realistic rental budget. you will probably need around $1800-$2400 for an apartment in this area.

So you're looking for a room to rent in someone's house or an English basement for $1200? If I understand correctly you're looking for a studio that's in a basement or someone's house for $1200. That won't be an easy task especially in such a limited geographic area. Of course I'd focus on that area but would expand to other nearby neighborhoods.
