Ok, I know I posted I was going to move to Logan Circle, but I went into DC yesterday and changed my mind. I really liked Dupont Circle and north of there into Kalorama seemed like a really nice place to live. I looked around though and those areas are too expensive. I want to spend $1300 for a 1 bedroom or studio. I saw some options in those areas, but I don't want a crappy place so I decided to compromise a bit.

I'm looking for a 1 bedroom or studio in Cleveland Park or Cathedral Heights that:

- close enough to Dupont or on the bus line
- roughly $1300 up to $1400
- central a/c
- prefer w/d in apt, but in building would be fine

Basically I want to be close to the action, but I don't want to have to worry about my apartment breaking on me and in a pretty safe area.

Does anyone have any apartment recommendations? Oh, and I know these areas are close to Georgetown so please spare me the frat boys.

W/D in apartment is probably not realistic. Neither is your price limit, though by doing some diligent craigslist monitoring you might get lucky.

Do you have a car?

I used to live in Quebec House on Quebec St NW (< 1/4 mile from the Cleveland Park station). I loved the place. Close to the action, but safe and a nice building. I paid $1281 for a just-redone studio, all utilities included. Plenty of W/D in the buildings, but not in units. I had a dishwasher and disposal. No complaints with the place at all, just too far from work (Navy Yard stop).

I've got a 1-br plus a small enclosed porch and a private parking space in Glover Park for just under $1300. Has a washer/dryer in the unit.

Didn't come with a dishwasher, but I actually have my own that I bring from rental to rental and can install pretty easily.

If don't need to be within easy walking distance of the a metro stop then you'll be able to get much, much cheaper places. As was mentioned, Glover Park is nice and actually not that expensive. It's not close to a metro station however.
