There should already be planning in place to run it down through the Landover Mall area, either Largo or Morgan Blvd on down to connect with the Green Line again, and then to National Harbor. Anything less is almost a waste in the same way the DC Streetcar has been stopping at Union Station instead of going to Georgetown.

If I recall correctly, there was substantial pushback from Glenarden residents. Like Anthony Brown substantial. It is planned though.

Not sure why there is pushback. Transit-oriented development is hot right now and chances are they would see new amenities and increased home values. Unless there are some houses that will be taken away. Then I could understand some pushback.

Then just tunnel under Glenarden, and pop out of the ground right at Landover Mall site. If Glenarden doesn't want to see any economic development due to potentially a transformative transit connect, and keep that torn down mall site next door with a sea of asphalt and gravel there another 20 years, then tunnel right past them. I grew up in Glenarden btw.

IMO, this is just another example of why we SHOULD be putting transit down the center of 495 and not more lanes.

The Purple Line however really operates inside the Beltway only, at least so far. I think you could mirror that circle with the line staying inside the Beltway which is why I mentioned Morgan Blvd. It more aligns with the current track of where the PL would go if you continue to trace as close to a perfect circle around the region as possible.

The following link has a link to a PDF that shows a couple of more detailed renderings of the Plaza. Definitely a unique look for the county. I like it. Some are comparing the look to the Mosaic District in Fairfax.

Carillon now has a dedicated website with info about the project, more pictures, and a nice video:

I hope the Carillon project is able to propel "Downtown Largo" like the FFX County has intensified development along Gallows Rd. such as the Mosaic District.
