This thread is another spin off from the previous thread updates on county development in different locations. I would like this one to focus on Central Prince George's close to the Beltway. Anywhere from Exit 19 on down to 13 basically. Not sure if there is one focusing on New Carrollton, but we have potentially FBI headquarters in Landover, Woodmore Town Center, Fed Ex Field, the BLVD and new hospital areas, Ritchie Marlboro all in a small radius.

Nordstrom Rack seems to be officially making the move over to the WTC area, which for the county is great news:

That WTC area seems to really be filling in nicely, please any updates in the Central Prince George's area as a whole feel free to add.

It does:

Petrie Richardson Ventures

EDIT: I see what you mean. That's interesting that it doesn't have its own website. I wonder why. Perhaps Petrie is managing it themselves?

Big official news! Kinda went unnoticed today, the new PG hospital is a go! Will deliver by July 2020 and that means complete makeover for the BLVD and that surrounding area.

Great! It will be interesting to see how it transforms that area.

The owners of Westphalia seem to be having cashflow issues.
Quote:
The developer of the 478-acre Westphalia Town Center mixed-use development in Prince George's County faces the prospect of defaulting on more than $34 million in debt, but that's a worst-case scenario the company's top local executive is confident will not come to pass.

Edward Fleming, regional president for Walton Development and Management, said affiliate Walton Westphalia Development Corp. has received 30-day extensions to avoid defaults on two of the project's maturing loans, including one for $23.2 million set to mature this past Saturday.

I was speaking with one of the managers at D&B and they mentioned that Ritchie Town Center is going to get an upscale movie theater (think iPIC in Bethesda). Apparently its supposed be the one that was going to Beltway Plaza (https://www.studiomoviegrill.com/Experience). Anyone else hear anything about this? What are your thoughts on this location if it was to come there

A upscale movie theatre would be awesome, something that doesn't directly compete with Magic Johnson (not that there is much competition there). I would always be there, I am tired of driving to Brandywine to watch a movie in a leather recliner.

I think that more of these types of retailers that come to this side of the district, the better. It creates an opening for other retailers to follow. I'm not sure what happened to the Beltsville Plaza location. It will be interesting if the FBI locates there after SMG decides to go to Ritchie Marlboro Station. It's not a bad location. It would be nice if it was near a metro station though like the one in Bethesda.

I think it had something to do with the liquor license and the the timelines for improving Beltway Plaza. From what I heard, the owners are not going to do anything significant unless the FBI comes.

There is nothing stopping SMG from having another location in Greenbelt once that site improves. Hopefully they, or similar styled theaters, will have locations throughout the county.
