It's not a matter of pushing to somewhere but convenience. All you have to do is cross the street and you're in Maryland. In addition, many residents of SE already have relatives in PG or elsewhere in MD.

Generally for VA residents that are already low income. DC doesn't tend to push residents that far out. But you never know.

In a previous thread, it was mentioned that there is a growing black population in Fairfax County. Some of it can be atrributed to migrations from other counties and DC. But what socioeconomic class are they? Some may be affluent, but others may be working class as well who may be low income, but are able to relocate and find reasonable costs-of-living in NoVa. Working class neighborhoods do exist in NoVa.

I have alot of friends and VA and they definitely see an increase for low incomes households from DC who are renting in their neighborhoods. Mostly Woodbridge, Alexandria and Manassas.

My hubby works with a lot of lower income people and he has had many clients in Northern Va, Alexandria, Woodbridge, Manassas, Centerville, etc. He always jokingly calls Woodbridge, Hoodbridge.
