Me and my wife are looking to buy a home in driving distance to Washington DC ( I'm in the military and will be stationed there for the next 4 years ) Im from northern maryland ( sparks ) and dont know this area to well...

We looked at a few places like Accokeek (PG) FORT WASHINGTON(PG) Bryans Road(CH) and Waldorf(CH)

Anyone able to tell me what the commut is like? car or rail station?

Our budget is around 285-335k and I like the more country wooded area's with alittle land .75+ acre

Anyone able to offer any imput on my delema?

Thanks a bunch!

I would say Accokeek, Bryans Rd are good areas where you can find country wooded areas. The Bryans Rd area would be a little more challenging commute-wise. If you go to Realtor.com and do a search for accokeed, md in your price range, there are 3 on the LOWER end 2, of which seem to be pretty well updated. I believe all 3 were at least 1/2 acre lots.

Are you working in Washington DC proper (i.e. Navy Yard, the Pentagon, Fort McNair) or say Andrews AFB or the Naval Academy or some other spot? There are so many bases and the commute to each can be quite different.

How long of a commute can you tolerate (not distance, but time in car).

As you are probably finding out, your budget is a bit low for the DC area but you can find places if you look hard.
