I'm moving down to the DC area to work out of Arlington, VA within the next 3 months and am wondering what areas would be recommended to me. My girlfriend is a teacher, so she is obviously trying to find a job in a refutable school district, so that's a factor. Also, we have a 1.5 year old German Shepherd, so we're looking for a single family house or townhouse so the puppy has plenty of room to exercise. Overall, we're looking to spend about $1400 a month in rent and are looking for a relatively safe neighborhood, looking for something in Montgomery County, if possible. Please let me know what suggestions, information, and tips you may have.

Also would my price of rent be reasonable on a 50-60K salary? My girlfriend will obviously be contributing as well but as we do not know what her salary is as of yet, that's all I have to go on
