Wink Lynchburg: The Real Deal??

So thus we have the conflict. Is Lychburg a lynchpin of extreme conservative values with narrow minded right wingers roaming the streets, and weapon laden paranoid immigrant hating "lilies" ready and a 'waitin? Or is it a friendly city overall with folks who keep to themselves, and generally are moderate tn their political beliefs. This of course is one of those, "depending upon whose perception is viewed as.." questions. So what do YOU think? Thanks. This info is really productive.

Lynchburg is a very conservative town, with very friendly and accepting citizens...Oddly, I did hear about some bouts of bigotry, which allegedly prevented black owned businesses from placing their establishments in the wyndhurst area...I dont know the validity of those allegations, but I hear that although the town is VERY religious, conservative, and outwardly friendly, it also has an underlying culture of bigotry at times...I thought the town was friendly overall though...cool area for a family

Lynchburg has changed a whole lot since then, especially the DT area. And I don't know whats up with this idea that the city is filled with bigots because everyone I know here is very friendly and open-minded.

The best way to get a real feel for an area is to visit. This area gets a lot of negitivity on these forums thats based on presumptions by people who have never lived here.

Clearly, all the bigots in America live in Lynchburg. And no other city in America has bigots; for example, Philadelphia, The City of Brotherly Love. http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/...With-Race.html

But as long as we all believe our stereotypes.

The story on the Wyndhurst area. A restaurant opened in the development, it became a crime scene, unfortunately black owned businesses became a target as a result. Lynchburg is a friendly place, its culture of bigotry is no worse/less than the rest of American life. Its a great place for families.

Conservative, non-conservative, Falwell followers, non-Falwell followers, bigots, non-bigots, the debate is endless...

I simply don't care for it becuz I think it's boring. Not much activity, culture, diversity, events, etc. But I'm used to metro areas as well, been in them most of my life.

Towns like Lynchburg don't compare. IMHO it is nowhere to be in the prime of life. But if you desire quiet small town living, may be the place for ya!
