I was doing 15 over speed limit and was stopped by state trooper. Know any good lawyers and can I get this reduced at the very least? I'm from PA.

Also, will those points carry over to my PA license? I have a CDL

This topic has been discussed in depth each week for years. Northern Virginia is very aggressive about speeding tickets. See the massive thread https://www.city-data.com/forum/north...-thread-2.html in the NoVA subforum.

it will carry over, all DMV's are connected now. It would be better to pay the extortion money to the courts. Ffx is known for slapping you in the face (with higher fines) if you even try to speak to their courts without representation.

give them their money...

If I get a lawyer, is it likely that I can get it lowered or just pay fine?

I was wrong its Spotsavania.

it's just going to cost more plus the time... pay the fine and take one of those $80 classes/tests for point reduction. That can be done online and you go in for the test when you are ready.

in I think all of the states it is a matter of money, it is not that you were actually committing a crime then the courts would try to reform you paying money for your infractions is very similar to how the catholic church did it back in the day over in Europe.

in Fairfax the judge probably won't even look at you when you speak (instead shuffle papers on his desk) if you try to defend yourself (specially against a state boy) Va state police are much cooler or professional imo than their township police. When dealing with a state boy on the side of the road for a traffic infraction he is the judge (you are guilty until proven innocent on his field judgement) If you are stopped by a state officer it's more like an honor and you should plead your case directly at the moment next time if you are not planning to prepay.

ah Fredricksburg eh? you may be a little better off down there with nicer people but still doubt it would be worth fighting because of the cost factor... if you have a beef and are innocent then that's a different story.

It actually was in Spotsylvania. Thanks for the information, I have CDL and that is the only reason I wanted it lowered. Maybe next time I'll just ask the Trooper to take me out back behind the car and kick me in the nuts a couple of times then call it the day. Virgina has the WORST laws against drivers that I know of UGH.

Yes but consequently Virginia has a much lower traffic accident fatality rate than neighboring states. I guess the Powers That Be think the trade-off is worth it.

you got that right and it doesn't mater what you do in Va anymore it seems... leaving out of the house to go to work every morning we are breaking the law somehow.

in Virginia they will suspend your license for anything, it doesn't have to be motor related... everyone's a dead-beat citizen if you are not in the $40k a year range. You do not have to skip out on your child support or be a drunk to have your license suspended.

Have a listen in one of the NoVa courtrooms, it seems like everyone is there now for driving on a suspended, in court they announce to the judge (a technicality) or if it suspended for something like DUI... everyone is in for a technicality and driving on a suspended seems to be the biggest money maker after speeding tickets.

PS: the Officer may reduce it right on the scene if he is a human and you speak with him or exclaim you are close on points or something. (state police that is)
