How is the competition for teaching jobs in Prince William School District? I am looking for a science teaching postion in this school district. I am certified to teach science and also linguistically diverse edcuation (ESL) from CO state. And I am teaching in the same state in the public school from last 4 years. But now I am desperately seeking teaching job in Prince William School District. I have seen some job posts in district's website. But because of tough competition, what are my chances to get job or even to get interview calls? What can I do to improve my chances? All the suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank.

Why only Prince William County. Fairfax is a much larger system with better benefits, and is adjacent.

When are you looking to start? If you are looking for RIGHT now I'm sure you are right that there are no openings. If you are looking for a position for next fall, those aren't even posted yet. My suggestion is get your application in to as many school districts as you can in the regional area you want then try to get to job fairs and stick with it through the summer. If you want/need something right now, and live in the area, then get on the sub lists of various school districts and do sub work, especially in science. If you get known, better chance when an opening comes up. Good luck!

I have started looking for the openings now for next school year. But haven't had any luck so far. I am still working in CO. And you are right I will have better chance if I apply in many school districts. Thanks for your suggestion.

I have a niece that came here last year to interview before a panel of principals from PWC. She has been teaching science/biology for ten years in another state. They told her before she left they wanted her and in a fairly short time she was asked to come to VA to work. Don't know how to get invited to something like this but it worked for her.
