I was explaining to my folks in NY how nice and warm the weather has been up here since we moved. I was actually surprised it's an Indian Summer...

Is this normal? Is Vermont (I'm on the East side of the state near Lebanon, NH) normally this warm in September? Has the weather 'changed' in the last few years?

Where I'm from (6 hours due south actually) it's gotten warmer and winters have been 'milder.'

How about here?

Don't worry-it will get colder. Soon, too.

Yes, it's pretty normal. September is the nicest month IMO. This time of year the adage is true - if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute! Heck, don't be surprised to see some snow in the next 4-5 weeks or so!

Yes, I have found weather on this mountain very, very changeable. Fog in the a.m., overcast, then sunny all by 10 am...

It's interesting, I give you that.

It was 84 here in eastern CT yesterday and will be 80 today (normal is 72)

It is warmer then normal, but feels good. First day of Autumn today- weather this week should stay warmer then normal- becoming normal temps by weeks end. Cooler weather should set in- but according to the NOAA we are predicted to have a warmer then average autumn into winter.

It's warmer all along the entire eastern U.S. Here in Boones Mill, VA it is going to hit 89F today. It's already 77F at 10:30am. I love the warm weather. Winter sets in much later down here, but it still sets in, and I'm trying to soak up as much heat as I can

During the 28 years I lived in Vermont my favorite month was September. Part of October too, although once the leaves all dropped it got a bit barren looking until I adjusted to the muted landscape.

If you look back over the 150 or more years that weather records have been maintained in Vermont you will find that we have had many warm falls well before "global warming" became the topic of concern. Then again we have had some pretty darn cold years too. I remember as a kid back in NY many years ago going to the beach (ocean) and swimming in late October due to 80 degree weather and then again I remember cold and windy June weather. Enjoy the mild and dry weather while we have it.

I remember one fall, I think 1994, where I was wearing a light jacket in early December.

Yes, I also remember the winter of 1992--I remember that distinctly because it was the time my husband (then boyfriend) came over from England to visit me on Valentine's Day and he stayed a week. We were wearing light jackets in FEBRUARY!

I'll take mild and dry. I am not ready to deal with snow/ice till I learn the area a bit better.

In my opinion, the weather has gotten warmer over the past six years. Fall comes later too,

Ten or 20 years ago foliage here in central Vermont peaked between Sept 30 and Oct. 4. Now it is more like Oct. 10 to 15. And the colors have not been good the last few years! Too many browns, not enough reds and oranges.
