It's been snowing here on and off since around 11:30 this morning...we're very close to Mansfield so I know we're getting affected by that, in town it was sleeting for a bit but then turned to rain I think.

There was still snow on Jay Peak's trails as it got dark this evening. Today felt very much like November.

How's the weather guys? Still cold enough? Think it will be an early snowy winter?

So long as there's no replay of this time last year !
The wknd. before Halloween 2011 we had a significant ice storm that knocked out power for better part of a day (and I live in a town, not in a rural part of the state)-it really brought things to a halt. And that was a mere 2 months after Tropical Storm Irene flooded away many stretches of road.
Guess my point is that the recent history makes whatever weather conditions are happening now (or will happen as the season unfolds) seem milder by comparison...

Enjoyed Cambium's comprehensive forecast posts in this VT weather thread, dunno' if there will be more.

Anyway, I can't guess how soon first snow might fall-or accumulate-in various regions of the state.
There have been a few nights (not consecutive) with below-freezing temps (20's), but daytime remains around 50 or even 60 at this point. There's still enough daylight (sun) for it to still feel Autumnal-once the wind has blown all the leaves off the tress, then it really starts to feel like Winter (raw & dark outside).
