I just killed the crabgrass and wanted to reseed myself. But one day its in the 90s, one day its hitting 40s another day staying in the 60s. I have no idea when to plant. LOL

We do moderate after these cold shots but lie you said.. 30s is not good for germination or young seedlings.

They expanded the frost advisories into the area on the previous map that is empty. So pretty much all of VT now.

Record lows possible tonight. Wow

Impressive temps for mid September. 10-20 below normal. Should be upper 40s/low 50s. Anything close to record lows temps means it doesn't happen often for the date. But I'm sure you guys seen these temps at the end of the month a few times.

Want more interesting? The low of 19° yesterday (Sept 16th) on Mt Washington is the lowest minimum temp for the month of Sept in over 8 years. Unfortunetly I don't have access beyond 2005 so it could be longer. They have gotten into the 20s 8 times already this month.

I think we were in the green area close to my home. The low for the night was 38 degrees. After today, another above average stretch followed by what appears to be normal weather.

Actually, one more night/morning then we start to moderate to normal weather. I don't see any big heat stories in the near future yet. Lots of ups and down but nothing well above normal. Great to finally have an early fall. Seems like recent years we were still getting to 80 with warm nights.

Actual lows this morning,. https://twitter.com/NWSBurlington/st...07120856285184

The local guys are calling it above normal for us. The normal day time highs for this time of year is 70 degrees in our region. We will be about 10 degrees above that by weeks end. The funny thing is we have little color change thus far. Actually in Burlington, you have to really look hard to find anything with slight color change. The news was saying in the central part of the state, we may see peak color change in early October. The trees looked like they might go early with the cooler weather in August, but I think the hot snap and sunny days have slowed that down. Normally for Chittenden County trees are getting a little color by now. We may not have peak until mid October. I envision myself cleaning leaves into November. 10 years ago I remember dressing my oldest kids in snowsuits to go out every Halloween.

Yup, Definetly see the warmth on Friday but it's 1 day worth. Normal highs are now upper 60s in VT so will be well above normal that day.. There's no surges of real heat though. Nothing persistant for more than a day or two. (above 76)

Here's GFS MOS forecast for all stations in VT. MRF-MOS STATION TEXT FORECASTS

N/X = Minimums and maximum temps for that day.

You can see Friday is the warmest but after Thurs & Friday back down we go.

Made it to 40.5° here. 30s down to northern Virginia. Most of CT except near the coast was in the 30s. IMPRESSIVE for mid September.

Looks like most of VT was in the 30s except for West side of the mountains.
