Lots of reasonably priced areas on Vancouver Island, but Victoria is not one of them....Do your research.

I've often thought of moving to Chilliwack. It's close to Hope but has a lot more to do. It's also breathtakingly beautiful being in the valley surrounded by mountains. The mushroom fertilizer in the summer isn't too pleasant but then again, the fresh produce is worth it. You'd be spending time at Cultus Lake more readily, maybe go tubing down the river in summer, hiking up Dog Mountain, or learn to go fly fishing... there's also the opportunity to be involved in the Arts more readily if you like that kind of thing. Churches can be great places to meet people and get involved rather quickly or read through the local paper for volunteer opportunities around your interests.
