Vancouver, BC is a good place to live? (student, Spanish)

I am really interested in knowing your opinion, because I am a student from Spain who is thinking in spending some time in USA or Canada to improve my English, and there's a good possibility to go to Vancouver and study English there, but I don't really know if it's a "safe" city and a good city to live in, at least for some months.

I would also like to know your opinion about going to study English in San Francisco and in San Diego.

Vancouver is safe, no worries...

As for San Diego, Spanish is so common there that it would be too easy for you to just go back to Spanish when English is a problem instead of learning the English because you have too.
