I'm looking to relocate to Utah or somewhere in the Rockies and looking to live in or as near to a ski town as possible without being insanely expensive. I know living in these towns (such as Park City for ex) can be extremely pricey. I just want access to snowboarding, hiking, cycling, mountain outdoor activities, etc. I've even open to other states maybe such as Idaho or Montana or wherever.

Not just Ogden but anyplace on the Wasatch Front. Do some homework - look at a map of the Utah ski areas. And what are your other criteria? Need a real job? Living off savings/Trustafarianism or willing to do the ski bum thing? Give us more to work with.

thx for the reply! I'm currently living in Europe (Prague) and looking to maybe head back (I'm American). I've been over here many many years and very much wanna be nearer to big mountains and mountain activities such as snowboarding, cycling, hiking etc. I'm working on doing my own thing/business online and support my life this way (hopefully making a decent income, not rich not poor). I'm even looking at options over here, in the Alps, where I go snowboarding and hiking now. I'm quite ok with driving 30-60min to get to the slopes, I don't have to be living right there by the mountain. Anyway, this is probably a fortune.

Ever heard of Brianhead in Southern Utah? Great ski and snowboarding and not crazy expensive. Town is at 9,800 feet elevation.

Anywhere in SLC then. It's a real city with real city stuff - restaurants, concerts, airport, potential social life, etc etc. Also very close to some of the best skiing on this planet. There's no real city anywhere that has the outdoor access that SLC has - not just skiiing but hiking, rock climbing, cycling, etc. Forget Brian's Head. It's in the middle of nowhere and in a very "conservative" part of Utah. In Utah conservative is a euphemism for religious. If you're living in Prague you'll go nuts down there. Not sure why anybody would suggest that. Closer to the desert though.....

Hmm, maybe because it fits the description of the original post? Not sure why anybody would question that. OP stated nothing about wanting to avoid what you deem a "conservative" part of Utah. Probably best for OP to have multiple options laid out. Southern Utah has a lot to offer in terms of what OP requested.

OP you could also consider Cedar City. It's about 35K in population and real estate there is very affordable compared to the rest of the state. It's right next to Cedar Breaks National Monument, Zion National Park, and Brian Head. Less than 30 min drive. St George is another option with nature galore.

yeah, does. But as a ski area it isn't even in the same category as the cottonwood resorts. AltaBird is a world class destination with better snow, better terrain and a longer season. When skiers look for a "good ski town" the bias is towards the best skiing. So what's the point? Do you actually ski?

If affordability is the issue, Brianhead/ Cedar City/ Parowan. Access to the other listed sports is excellent.

More casual, slower pace of life, less SLC rat race, less "Silicon Slopes" and Park City pretentiousness and far less cost.
