A story in the Guardian suggests that Rupert Murdoch would like Sky news to be an English version of Fox news.
Would anybody like to see that?

Don't watch Sky news, but I wouldn't watch any network that followed the likes of FOX

If it is as right wing as Fox News and as dedicated to "changing opinion" or putting forward a very partisan viewpoint, then I don't think it would work in the UK.

Not nessarily like FOX, although I would personally like it as i think all TV media should be free to report from different viewpoints - much like with newspapers, you can read a liberal or conservative paper, i think it should be the same with TV.

That being said, i find Fox takes a needlessly Tabloid-populist type position, its like the Jerry Springer of news - although i suppose thats why they get so much higher viewing figures than any other news channel.

I cant see it happening here in the near future as reporting is tightly controlled, although iirc Sky did employ Richard Littlejohn to do an o'reilly factor type thing back in the late 90s, which flopped. Besides, most British people dont really watch news, i know i dont, and no one i know does, except grandparents. Anyway, so long as the Simpsons is on i'll watch that, much less depressing. I find the internet's a far better source for news than TV.

I do like the Fox news babes though, makes BBC's reporters look so ugly and stale

It has been suggested that Sky is already leaning to the right, in line with the Sun's backing of the Conservatives.

Fox News is not broadcast journalism. It's infotainment. My advice to the British: pass.

I've just read today that John Lewis/Waitrose, and other British companies have withdrawn advertising from the FOX News Station in the UK over Glenn Beck's show - he called Obama a 'racist' - sounds like a smart guy

As much as some of you people believe that Murdoch and Ailes are far right, you should be aware that Ted Turner (CNN) and Jeff Zucker (NBC) are even further left.
You need an eye-opening network like Fox.

Perhaps not, but it's certainly more subtle and less bombastic (as compared to Fox and MSNBC).
