Been trying to call for hours with no success, so heres hoping one of you might have a clue on this issue:

On Thursday 4/16 I attempted to reopen a UI claim I had filed back in January (got injured and went on SDI for a few months). Soon after filing it told me to check back in a few days to certify for benefits. Well last night and today i checked my UI online and it says on my notifications the same thing as I did before I reopened my claim... tells me I can reopen my claim, which leads me to believe my initial claim reopening may not have been processed successfully (I do have a print out of my submission confirmation though, but no email). They usually say it takes 10 days to reopen a claim, but I would assume if that were the case it would still tell me what it originally told me after the first couple of days I applied instead of having me reopen.

I know in the bottom of the statement when you can reopen claim it says something along the lines of "You cannot reopen a claim more than once within the same calendar week (Sunday through Saturday)". So that brings me to the topic question: Am I supposed to "reopen" my claim every week as a way of certifying or until it gets reopened, or might this just lead to my claim getting cancelled/delayed? I know their servers are likely overloaded at the time, but that wouldn't mean my claim would just get discarded out of the blue just like that, right?
I wanted to call just to have this question answered. I don't mind waiting and going from there, but I what I don't want is that my original claim did not go through and instead I am waiting for no reason and miss out on that weeks benefits when I could have just reapplied right away.
If anyone has any insight, I would thoroughly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hello PeppermintBronner.

I've been having the same issue. I have a current claim on file with the CA EDD.

When I go to the UI online website, I hit the button to re-open my claim and after each week, the UI online website's message will come back to say to "Re-open the claim" again.

I've been doing that for the past few weeks. The only best way to get this resolved is to call the UI phone number(s) and speak with a representative. but, I know that'll be tough because it's hard to get hold of someone.

You have to certify for benefits every other week.

If the website says to reopen your claim, that's what you do.
