I filed my California EDD claim on 9/8/13 -- it is now based on my lowest quarterly earnings. Is there a way to cancel the claim and reopen it 10/8/13 to reap the larger benefits based on the next quarters earnings?

Per CA handbook:
Quote:
CANCELLING A CLAIM

You have an option of cancelling a regular California UI claim up
to and including 30 days after the mailing or issuance date of the
Notice of Unemployment Insurance Award, if no benefits have been
cashed, and no disqualification has been issued in writing.

If a claim is cancelled, that claim cannot be reopened, but you can file a new
claim with a later date. If the original claim is not cancelled, another
California claim cannot be fi led for 52 weeks.

If you have questions regarding claim cancellation or want to cancel your claim, contact EDD.

Read last page or two, here, on how to contact. Ordinary methods don't work, these days.

CA is having serious computer issues right now. Not sure how easily you will be able to accomplish this. A poster four or five months back did the same thing and was waiting for months for final approval. I hope you have better success.

Let us know how it goes.

I haven't received a check yet. If I closed it now would i be able to open a new one on October 8th? Or is there a time limit before i can do that?

Thanks so much!

Default I moved & claim form couldn't be forwarded!

8 weeks ago, I filed an EDD claim and used my previous address. Through multiple emails they said I needed to email them my old & new address, which I did, 7 weeks ago! I still have not gotten my claim form!
Please help! EDD does not answer calls or emails (except for that one, which I replied to)

I moved to Washington 12 years ago and have worked for a church the last 11 years. They do not have to pay unemployment so I cannot collect here. Before that I worked in California. I have filed for unemployment online. Will they pay me from my previous employment in California from state or federal unemployment benefits

12 years is too long ago to qualify for benefits from your previous CA employer.
