I just began working as a full time teacher aide in a school district. I am not employed by the district, but an independent staffing company. I am full time but paid per diem-does this mean that come summer when I can no longer work because the school is cloaed I cannot collect unemployment? I do not see how this is fair because I have not signed a contract like the teachers. My fiance works for a fertilizer company and is paid unemployment in the winter because the company closes and it is considered seasonal... how us that any different?I am in New Jersey

According to your post, you are an employee of the staffing agency, not the school district. The school district is closed during the summer, is the staffing agency? I'd venture to say "no".

Did you talk to the agency about finding other work during the summer?

Does your fiancee look for other work in the winter?
