Been unemployed 116 weeks now and I have to admit I'm rusty... I haven't touched Proengineer, Solidworks, and Autocad in a long time... I wonder if I can do all the complicated things I used to do in these programs. So now I gotta spend my unemployed time practicing / relearning these programs, - especially after my Philippines vacation.

The job market hasn't had too many good listings for Mechanical Designers, Mechanical Engineers, or Technical Writers. If there are Mechanical Engineer jobs they often are tough highly qualified jobs where you just have to have a lot of skills and experience. Sometimes I wish I never became a mechanical engineer because it's a bit tough career but it's not as bad as IT. But it's an interesting career if you do Product Design, and I had many interesting jobs.

How about you? Have you been unemployed too long that you "got rusty?" What job skills do you have to review?

yes, and im an architectural drafter until recently, i havent touched acad since being laid off. but lately i have been using my local colleges computer labs and even trying to teach myself inventor. a couple jobs ive applied for have wanted 3d of some sort, and saying i have no experience with it has been bad. im actually interviewing for a job this week in a field i know nothing about that uses 3d cad or some sort. so basically im going in with only what i have taught myself recently
