This has been getting some press and Matthew McCon..can't spell his name has been on talk shows. Woody Harrelson is the other detective.
I think it looks good and will be watching.
here is an article discussing it, with an interesting note for us The Killing lovers
But, despite these positives, things start to go off track as early as the second episode, and you can’t help making a connection to Mr. Pizzolatto’s résumé. He’s a literature professor and novelist whose previous television experience consists of writing two episodes of “The Killing.” This seems relevant as the mystery becomes cursory, with leads and suspects popping up in arbitrary, nondramatic fashion, and the series reveals itself as a languid character study and a vehicle for long-winded exchanges about religion and responsibility that are writerly in the worst way.
Despite what they are saying, it looks like its going to be pretty good.

The The killing that was shown in the UK was much better than the US version although it was very good and well written, the new detective series sounds good except I can't stand woody Harrelson he's another Hollywood liberal.

I don't understand this mindset. You don't have to (IMO) *like* an actor, a person, an artist, whatever, personally.....to appreciate his work, do you? From what I've read, he and McConaughey are good friends. You may not want to watch it at all.
That being said, I also intend to watch. It sounds like a good character study with crime drama involved. I agree it looks like it will be good.

I know it's an odd way to look at things isn't it, somehow it just puts me off certain actors , same with George Clooney , can't watch his movies either

I guess I kind of understand. I'm a little like that with music, not so much with actors tho.
