Another interpretation of those:
1. =I'm greedy, give me money and fame.
2. =I'm a loser and have no worthwhile dreams, so this will do.
3. =My whole family are losers.
4. =I'm tired of working...just give me an easy way out so I can loaf around.
5. =I'll stab anyone in the back, lie, steal, cheat...whatever I have to do to win.
The really annoying 10-second pause before anything of importance is about to happen. It's such a cliche now, I think people on reality shows already know they're expected to look around with that worried, pained look on their faces just before a big announcement or 'vote'.

You know what's funny about that? I use close captioning because I am a bit hard of hearing even with my hearing aides. On America's Got Talent they really prolong the announcements like you describe. But the words come on the screen a few seconds before Nick Cannon announces them. So those of us who use CC get to find out a few seconds before the rest of America.

I like it when Nick says "America HAVE Voted!", which is the same this Ryan Seacrest says with only better grammar
