i think all cell phone companies have similar coverage here. my cell company is Ntelos based in maryland, and is a regional carrier, and yet i have full coverage here.

For over 12 years, I've had excellent coverage and no drops with Sprint PCS.

In the city its all the same... good service all around. Its when you get to the outlying areas where we have problems. Some carriers are strong in some areas while others are not. Its hit or miss depending on what areas you're in. Too many mountains and hills to hit everywhere perfectly.

I have Tmobile and I don't get good service inside my place. I've moved and didn't get service in either of my places and with different phones. Maybe I just have bad luck, but other people with other carriers seem to have cell phone reception in places that I do not.

Good point, Tararind.

I've heard the same comments concerning reception inside homes and public buildings with Verizon and AT&T.

Knock on Wood . . . Sprint PCS has never let me down so far. Very important for me since I dropped my landline a few years ago.

We've had Verizon for years and I've never had trouble in buildings, homes or even in Hawaii. Never had dropped calls, get service at the Desert Museum and lots of other more rural places. For me, they've been fine, but we also don't have all the bells and whistles. Just plain old cell service on a plain old Motorola phone. My son has an LG something or other with internet, a pull out keyboard, etc., and his calls get dropped, he has trouble in malls and large stores. He's on our plan, so I'm thinking it's more his phone than the service. Maybe he's just got a bad phone. I dunno.

Thank you all for your replies. It seems to me that coverage is generally good in most aspects. I'm goin to be in college at the University of Arizona in fall. Specifically there, what cell phone carrier has the best coverage there?

i would pick a company that has the plan you can afford, with a phone you like. i have Ntelos, but they are a regional carrier back east these days. best thing i can tell you is to shop around, perhaps you might prefer a prepaid phone plan.

Many companies are creating a 4G network, but Verizon's will be lagging behind, since their 3G isn't great anyways.

sprint would be good to get 4G right away, but in the long run, AT&T should have better 4G..

Just what I've heard, Might be Tmobile and Verizon that are bad..

I've got Sprint, only problems are back-water roads...
