Dear Mr Tucson: I drove by Broadway & Kolb the other day, and I noticed that they're building yet another IN-N-OUT Burger (originally from California). This one's on the northeast corner, across from Eegee's and Starbucks, and just west of that BIG, FAT Greek Restaurant.
Arizona continues to be infiltrated by these west coast refugees (Phoenix alone is what, more than 75% Californians now?), but WHY must they push their BIG, FAT stupid burger fetish on US?
Signed: Paranoid near the Pantano

Dear Paranoid: Not to worry! The Californians in Phoenix aren't even at 50% yet, and besides IN-N-OUT Burger ain't really all that bad, you know. The owners have managed to continue as a family business and have no plans to franchise - plus they make half-hearted attempts at being heart-healthy as well!
Remember the old adage: "If it SNIFFS 'LISH, it prolly IS 'LISH"!
Signed - Mr Tucson

Well, Mr. Tucson, there aren't that many choices of a piece of crap coming at such a corner. It can be only one out of a handful of things:

- gas station - it already was; the state tree is kitty corner from it; and there's another gas station across; how can any lunatic decide it's a good idea to have 3!!! gas stations at the same effing intersection is beyond me!

- drug store - there are already 2: half a mile away each in both directions

- junk-food joint

- payday loan joint

As you can see, it was a choice between the last 2! The excitement and uniqueness of Tucson!

I’d like to know what this stupid Park & Ride is they started building at 22nd & Pantano Pkwy! WTH is gonna ride what and where…?

Good points all, Sierra.

Now... unless my grapevine has root-rot, my understanding about these Park & Ride thingies is that SunTran bus-passenger-wannabe's will park their personal vehicles there. Then these brave souls will climb aboard the Ghetto-on-Wheels for a ride to their final destination!

Ain't that an interesting concept?

Sure is! If I'm gonna drive half of the way, why in the darn world would I want to ride the bus for the rest of the trip?!

One of the few good things about Tucson (other good food things include Eegee's Grinder with their homemade italian vinaigrette...mmm... and of course, mexican food. Hooray for La Parrilla Suiza, Cafe La Poca Cosa, and Macayo's Margaritas and green corn tamales!)

Then again, I have a 5 Guys, Smashburger, and Stellas here. Maybe I'm good after all (we are the capital of beef! )

I used to go the the second 5 Guys opened (King St in Alexandria, VA) way back in the day. They used to have the absolute best burgers, and they made their fries in peanut oil. Oh, the awesomeness of it all.

They've now franchised all over, and while still good, nowhere near as good as the original couple. I recently went to one in Kendall, FL that was, like I said, good, but man, nothing like the little joint in Alexandria.

Anyway, I definitely likes me some In-N-Out too. Wish they'd put one up here in OV. And while they're at it, wish they'd put a Xoom right next to it. I'd be wasting all kinds of money on those Velvet Amazons.

It's extremely, extremely difficult to resist 5 guys cajun fries with malt vinegar.
