What is the best pest service in oro valley/Tucson? Is there anything I need to know to keep the scorpions out of my oro valley home? I will go to all lengths as I am deathly afraid of spiders and scorpions. Thanks

Truly Nolen dresses their cars up like bugs and mice - it's pretty cute. You could try them.

Are you actually living in your home? Have you actually seen scorpions in your house?

No, I'm not there yet. Just doing some pre-research. We plan on being there around the first of Nov.

Do some pre-research on the forums for 'scorpions' (Click the Search tab at the top, 'Advanced Search' and make sure you click the 'Tucson' board on the right side list). I doubt it's as big of a problem as you think.

Actually, I've never met anyone who's lived in Tucson who can say that they've ever had a scorpion in their house.

I know plenty of people who live in the outer areas of town who have found scorpions inside their homes. I know a couple folks in the inner area as well.

It is not a big problem at all, but in the desert, you should accept it as a possibility.

I don't know if they handle scorpions specifically, but I've heard a lot of good about 5 Star Termite and Pest Control.

I've seen some trucks cruising around that advertise specifically for scorpions. And they have scorpion spray at Lowe's with the bee-killer, too.

Thank you for all the info. I'll be sure to be looking for those special scorpion trucks, JillBoBill. I'll also look at Lowe's too.

I'd go with Truly Nolen - their cars are so much cuter.

We live in OV and haven't really had a problem with critters at all, really. We had one cockroach in my son's bathroom, but the poor thing (cockroach--not son) was belly up already and took a good swim in the toilet to the big sewer in the sky. I've seen a couple of scorpions on the grass, and a tarantula, but not inside the house. Scorpions like rocks and dirt better than grass, so if you're worried about them, sod the yard around the perimeter of your house. We also spray with something called RealKill that we get at Home Depot. We spray windows and doors and holes where utilities and cable come in to the house. So far, so good. I wouldn't worry too much about critters IN the house, but they will most likely be outside the house. So, spray, spray, spray.......If you can contol them on your own with products from Lowe's or Home Depot, it's a lot less expensive than an exterminator. Especially if you don't even know whether you have critters or not.

I did see a bug last night at dusk, as I was filling my hummingbird feeders that I never want to see again. It was a flying insect that had an oval, black (looked black in the dusk) body about 2" long, and clear wings, also about 2" long, and very distinctive antennae that had tight curliques at the end. It didn't make any noise and didn't hover, it was just flying by, but it was big and ugly and scary. I have no idea what it was and I've never seen anything like it before, but it was huge and gross. I think I got that part across pretty well.
