I'm baffled that people claim its Cheaper to live here.I moved from so cal in January and i dont find the cost of living cheaper. Now, I'm not speaking of basic home prices and fuel cost.I find that most everything here cost me more then cali.

Doc visits,Veterinarian visits and food seem to cost more. Its driving me crazy. I have a dog in the vet right now looking at another back surgery and its approx $1000 more here then in cali. I'm tempted on driving/flying him back home to have it done, but that alone would almost be the same cost.

This is what else i have found in my short 7 months of being here-
Homeowners insurance cheaper here
Auto insurance Alot more expensive here
Basic utilities more here

Not necessary you,but in general most claim California is more expensive to live in.Maybe they are going off home prices.Other then that not much is more expensive to live on.
Amazing that doc and vet bills are more here, dont know why?Tucson is behind on the technology,so why the increase?

Don't know anything about these two, but other than housing nothing else is less expensive.

Well, my two biggest expenses are housing (I rent), and gas. Tucson is waaaaay cheaper on both counts than So Fla, from whence I came.

I don't notice a big difference in grocery costs. I think restaurants are cheaper here too.

But housing and gas are dramatically cheaper here.

I'd add real estate taxes tomthe list of cheaper, at least as compared to the Chicago area. It's about 1/3 the cost as here.

Yeah, that's true. We just had it bundled up with housing.
