Hello Everybody,

I got a job in U of A with an annual salary of 65,000 and will be moving to Tucson in December. I am a married person with no kids and would be planning to rent single bedroom apartment there.

Could you please share your thoughts on cost of living in Tucson and also 65,000 yearly salary will be enough to spend moderate life in Tucson?

Thanks,
Randy

Good question, Randy.

Regardless of the many expert charts available, Cost Of Living comparisons work best when "compared" to your present location. Where are you located now? What are you other expenses such as Vehicle Payments and/or Student Loans, etc?

When I relocated here from Northern California about a dozen years ago, I was amazed at how much more was "leftover" after paying all of my bills each month even though my salary was considerably less.

Good Luck

Hello Guys,

Thanks for your inputs.

I will be moving to Tucson from Dallas, TX. At present I am earning an annual salary of 57,000 USD. Other major payments I can say is the Car maintenance and food expenses. With all other expenses I am able to save around 1300 USD per month.

With a moderate life will it possible to save 1800 USD per month in Tucson?

Thanks,
Randy

If you live in a studio or a 1-br apt... why not...

Tucson is more expensive to live in than Dallas. My wifes family is from Dallas and homes here are a lot more expensive. A house you could buy for 200K in Dallas, you'd spend about 250K for here. Gas is a bit cheaper in Tucson but taxes are higher in Tucson as well.

Regardless, 65K if you're single is above average so you shouldnt have many problems putting money away and having a good time.

Yes, negotiate it up for all you can. Nice to have a little extra if needed.
